Dance Drama

This week in class, the students are creating a Dance Drama in which they step back in time to be “cave people”. Over the past couple of weeks, the students have been experimenting with different movements including levels and pace. We have then used these skills to create stylised movements, recreating tasks performed by “cave people”. Here, our Duncraig Upper Primary class are in “gathering” mode.  Great skills being showed guys!

This week in class the students are creating a Dance Drama in which they are cats. Over the past couple of weeks, the students have been learning different movement styles such as wringing, dabbing, pressing and flicking. We have then used these skills to create stylised movements, like cats. Here our Duncraig class are in “cat” pose.

Let the Show Commence!

Students in our Upper Primary classes this week are participating in an improvisation that takes them back stage before a school production. Amongst the nerves, last minute rehearsals, lost costumes and general excitement the show must go on!

Here, some students from our Duncraig Upper Primary class are preparing back stage. Will the show be ready to go on stage? Will all  of the costumes be finished in time?  Of course they will!

It was a great success! See you in class soon.

Roll up roll up and see the clown parade!

Our last Kindy Drama theme was “The Circus” and as you can see by the photo’s, the students and teacher at our Duncraig Kindy Class had an absolutely fantastic time.

The next theme is “Transport”…sounds like more fun to be had!

See you all in class soon!

Parents know how valuable the skills are that we teach and practice within the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy.

None more so than one of our Duncraig Mums who recently shared with us that she attended classes with our academy some years ago with none other than our Executive Principal, Helen Davey.

Her son has just entered our Kindy programme and her comment was, “I’m glad to see nothing has changed since I attended…the energy and enthusiasm of the teacher and the attention to detail with the speech. I wanted to jump up and join in again!”

Are there any more Mums or Dads who attended our classes and now their kids do? Please let us know!

See you all in class soon!
