Dance Drama

This week in class, the students are creating a Dance Drama in which they step back in time to be “cave people”. Over the past couple of weeks, the students have been experimenting with different movements including levels and pace. We have then used these skills to create stylised movements, recreating tasks performed by “cave people”. Here, our Duncraig Upper Primary class are in “gathering” mode.  Great skills being showed guys!

This week in class the students are creating a Dance Drama in which they are cats. Over the past couple of weeks, the students have been learning different movement styles such as wringing, dabbing, pressing and flicking. We have then used these skills to create stylised movements, like cats. Here our Duncraig class are in “cat” pose.

What to wear?

Each week our students are involved in an energetic and physical drama lesson. We will often ask the students to explore different ways of moving and experiment using different levels in class. We want all of our students to achieve their personal best and often the clothes they are wearing can restrict their movement. We recommend “comfortable modest” clothing that allows the students to freely move in any way. Leggings, trackies, shorts and a comfortable top is what we recommend.

You may have noticed your teacher or other students wearing Helen O’Grady T-shirts and for only $15 they represent excellent value! In these pictures some of the students from Quinns and Banksia Grove are “modelling” our shirts.

Please ask you teacher today about purchasing one today.

See you in class soon.

Let’s ‘Twist’ Again!

This week, our students used “twisting” and “curling” movements to make a “knot” with a partner without any touching or talking! Here, 2 students from our Quinns Lower Primary class had fun getting out of this mess!

Kindy Drama goes to the Zoo!

Be afraid! Be very afraid of this Helen O’Grady lion!

All of our Kindy classes have been loving the current theme of the “Zoo”!

Students were able to dress as their favourite zoo animal and participated in an improvisation about visiting the zoo.

All of the students had so much fun, especially when they were sprayed with water by an elephant!
