Term 4 has arrived and the excitement is building for our End of Year Productions! Here are some of our Kalamunda Youth Theatre students on the last day of Term 3 dressed up and ready for action! They had a chance to guess what their Term 4 play was going to be about and were given lots of clues!Did they choose the right  costumes to suit the play this term? They will find out on Friday!  Have a fantastic Term 4 everyone!

Kids in the Office!

Boy, did we have fun at the Norton Rose Australia Offices on Monday!  It was “Kids in the Office Day” and there were over 30 children ranging in age from 20 months to teenagers in their Mum or Dad’s workplace!  We were invited to present some drama workshops as part of the day.  With the younger children, we had an exciting lesson all about the zoo, which included using musical instruments and animal finger puppets.  The older children were involved in an Improvisation set in – an office!  The computers unfortunately broke down in that office so there was mayhem and chaos!!

We think it is a GREAT idea to have a Bring Your Kids to Work Day, so if anyone else wants us to be involved in their workplace for a similar activity – let us know! 🙂

The Knights of the Round Table were present at our Kallaroo Upper Primary Class this week.

We took a step back in time this week and through our play, visited the historical time of King Arthur and his Knights.  Lots of students made the effort to dress up and this really helped to create a fantastic atmosphere. There were plenty of damsels in distress that were rescued by our brave knights, Sir Galahad and Sir Lancelot.

Some students took their characters even further by continuing to develop them in thier Snippets section (where the children make up their own short scene, with a  partner).

I was very impressed with the student’s willingness to grasp a different time period and really try to become those different characters.

It was an amazing lesson and was so much fun!

The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy is excited to announce that we have been nominated for this year’s What’s On For Junior Awards, in the Best National School Aged Activity!  Our Rockingham/Mandurah Principal, Emma Lupino was nominated by a very appreciative family whose child attends our classes as they think our programme (and our Principal), deserve recognition in thsi area.  The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy has been operating in Perth since 1979 and we are so proud of our self-development programme for 3 – 17 year olds.  It is nice to know that our wider community are also proud of our unique classes!  To vote for us, please click on the following link:

and vote in the School Aged Activity section.

We look forward to sharing our results with you all 🙂
