Well 2013 has flown by and we have had an amazing year here in the Eastern Suburbs! We have danced, sung, created, made new friends, improvised, laughed, smiled and all while learning to work together as a team, with partners, in small groups and much more! Communicating and learning how to express ourselves has never been so much fun! A big thank you to all the students who attended classes this year. It has been a pleasure sharing our amazing programme with you and we wish you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year swiftly approaching. Most of all we look forward to seeing you all again in 2014 for even more excitement! We will leave you with just a few photos of how much fun we have had this year… such a shame there isn’t enough space to fit in every fantastic moment:)   Kindest regards, Merylena Sulak Principal – Eastern Suburbs

Term 4 has arrived and the excitement is building for our End of Year Productions! Here are some of our Kalamunda Youth Theatre students on the last day of Term 3 dressed up and ready for action! They had a chance to guess what their Term 4 play was going to be about and were given lots of clues!Did they choose the right  costumes to suit the play this term? They will find out on Friday!  Have a fantastic Term 4 everyone!

I have the great pleasure of teaching at our Duncraig Studio on Monday evenings at the Duncraig Lutheran Church Hall. All of the classes are full of enthusiastic and committed drama students.

Our Youth Theatre Class  in particular is brimming with energy and creativity and it is often the boys that are leading the way. As you can see from the pictures they certainly love being dramatic. One might say it is a class full of “drama kings”.

See you in class soon!

What An Inspiring Class!!

I have just come home from my Youth Theatre class in Greenfields.  As seems to be the case at this time of year, there were a few absences due to illness. So a small class, but what a class!!!

The task for the lesson was small group improvisations, which we ended up completing as a class group and it was a blast . What fun it was to have the entire group be a part of the creative process and take ownership of the piece.
The title: Going Straight.
The specifics: The black sheep of the crime family announces his plans to go straight!
As a group we came up with a plot line that inserted snippets of humour, whilst ensuring that our characters were clearly defined. It was an inspiring lesson to be a part of. I was so proud to see how everyone played an active role in the learning process and respect was paid to all ideas given. But most of all it was SO MUCH FUN!! There was a beautiful energy and we all left the lesson on a high. Thanks Greenfields Youth Theatre!!
